Summary

My primary medium is film for photography. But I also like to use a digital camera for the same purpose. Portraiture is the type of photographs that I like to shoot. Right now I am unsure about my style. My themes usually involve people and intricate patterns. I actually do not know what makes my work distinct, but I would assume it is the contrast and patterns that I use in my art. It was not until last year that I figured out that I really liked working with jewelry and metal. And class that I enjoyed is my alternative digital art class. It was fun because it was hands on and still incorporated the use of digital media. Some of the materials for this course had to be cooked, and that is what made it all the more fun. We learned many ways to transfer images on to different materials like wood, metal, canvas, and etc. So for my BFA I want to use the skills that Igained from my jewelry and metal class, and alternative digital art print class.

The pocket note books did help me get some ideas for my BFA. It was easier to remember stuff because I wrote it down. The dreams I wrote down , i would have normally forgotten by now.I believe it was helpful as an artist because it helped a bit with my writer/artist block.  In general I do keep little books like this. Those books were a tad bit bigger though. And I basically wrote the same types of things in it like I did in the notebook assignment.   My junior year I didn't have a little book  like that.

The books are helpful because they allow me to brainstorm things.  Usually my head is filled with so many things that I just don't know where to start.  In general it is usually hard for me to start any project.  I am very indecisive as well.  So this book kind of helped me narrow down what I want to do for my BFA. I know for sure that it is going to involve photography and alternative digital print, but not how to make it distinctive.  For that I will need a living person to bounce off my ideas before I decide.

For artists that I like I guess I like natalie shau's stuff.

  1. Darrlysha,

Well-organized powerpoint presentation, but not sure about including some work (could eliminate some from presentation). Your strength is definitely photography. You have a good sense of composition and lighting. But we need to figure out how you can make it distinctive AND also what themes you can explore. it could come from the subject (WHO you choose to photograph) and the output - I would love to see you continue with the Alternative printing techniques.
