The Contract

1. The type of genre of digital art that I am going to use is alternative digital art. It will be a series.

2.My idea is maybe femme fatales vs. the normal women in those movies. My themes will be horror film noir.

3. I am thinking about having them all in black and white, and maybe a couple in color to portray the film noir feel.

4.I want to make giant sheet of these pictures on various material( mainly aluminum and glass). Possibly life sized. To display it I want to have a curtain around it and have lights flash at the pictures hidden in the dark in a circular enclosure. My other option was to make a big tunnel out of the giant portraits for people to crawl through  with a flashlight. 3rd option a wall of those pictures over average  person's height.Fourth a cube made out of the pics and hung in the air like a mobile with lights on it.A giant person made out of the tiny pictures that i take.

5.not until i decide what i really want to do.

6.lights,black curtain, string to hold them up,and stands for some of them.

  1. Comments from small group crit #1:

Film noir photos either printed on aluminum, embedded in clear plastic epoxy, or gesso. lots of photos taken over the weekend. film noir stories - add elements. why using acrylic? What makes it special and how does it relate as a medium to the concept - make sure the medium makes sense visually AND conceptually. represent the break down of plot complexity. per DD: film noir= drama, victim, femme fatale (her power, but punished). photos are good starts - i prefer the color if she uses it for drama. Be sure to sort through presentation and only show best work during critique.

Film noir photography printed into panel. Needs more layers to enhance the film noir narrative. What is the medium, how does it relate to your concept? How does this relate to her interest to film noir and photography? All decisions on how to present the imagery should inform and support the concept. ‘Two sides of every story’; we can use the three dimensionality of the printed medium to play with the suspense of the plot.

    Progress: B+, Concept: B-
